New Build Passivhaus Render Project
Client: Beattie Passive
Measures: Render
Location: Chediston, Suffolk
Date: June 2017
Value: £11,000
The Challenge
Cornerstone was recommended to Beattie Passive, designer and manufacturer of the UK’s first certified Passivhaus build system, for the provision of rendering services on a new build project in Suffolk.
A Beattie Passive timber-framed home had been commissioned by a private client completing a self-build project on a rural site in Chediston, Suffolk.
Render system provider Alumasc recommended Cornerstone on the basis of our proven track record of domestic render application on high specification properties.
Our Solution
Application of the Alumasc render system with carrier board was the final element of the external finish process on this property.
Cornerstone worked with Beattie Passive, who also project managed the end to end construction and finishing process, and a number of other tradespeople to complete our render works within the build schedule. The 214m2 of render was applied to the four bedroom detached property over a total of two days.
The Result
Beattie Passive’s innovative construction method exceeds existing Passivhaus standards; their high-quality homes requires 90% less heating than those of traditional construction.
The application of the render complemented the Beattie Passive system by contributing a clean and fresh finish, ensuring that the house met both the technical and aesthetic demands of the client.
